Accreditation

Clark Retirement Community is the first organization in the United States to receive accreditation for dementia services by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities-Continuing Care Accreditation Commission (CARF-CACC). In conferring the honor, special recognition was also given for two award-winning Clark dementia programs. The Friends Swim Club provides dementia residents with an afternoon of fun and camaraderie in the pool each week. The Clark Couples program assists dementia residents as they go on dates with their loved ones.

Clark received two other accreditations. Clark is one of only three continuing care retirement communities in Michigan to receive CARF-CCAC accreditation as a continuing care retirement community (CCRC). This is the second time Clark received this accreditation.

The third accreditation is for Person-Centered Care within the skilled nursing neighborhoods. Clark received the maximum five-year term for all accreditations.

CARF-CCAC accreditation is a voluntary and rigorous process. Organizations must demonstrate innovation and ongoing conformance on more than 1,200 standards during an on-site visit. CARF-CCAC surveyors not only review the care and services provided to residents, but they also examine the governance and administrative structures as well as fiscal practices.

CARF-CCAC is the only accrediting body in the United States for continuing care retirement communities.
