Life at Clark
It´s been said that, "the heart that loves is always young." That being the case, Clark is a virtual fountain of youth.
This affection generates empathetic relationships between residents; supportive relationships between staff members; and compassionate relationships
between residents and staff. It’s an inviting, warm community to join either as a resident or an employee. No matter the age, no matter the stage, life
is celebrated at Clark.
What’s a celebration without food? Here is a sampling of What’s Cookin’ This Month from both campuses. If you plan to
tour Clark, please include a meal in your visit.
Most people come to Clark looking for ways to stay active. They aren’t disappointed. There are opportunities to engage your mind, body and soul.
Here are a few of This Month’s Events. Residents are invited to participate in activities on
either campus.
In Fitness and in Health
Befuddled by exercise equipment not to mention all those articles you read? Let our Wellness Coordinator tailor an exercise regimen for you. Work out
in the fitness center on a strength-building machine, treadmill, or stationery bike. Maybe you prefer the companionship of a fitness group. Join the
“Golden Arches” walking club, swim laps, or take a water aerobics class. There’s always the hot tub for a soothing finishing touch.
The Gray Matter Matters
A growing body of research points to the positive benefits of staying mentally active. Stimulate your mind with special-interest lectures by visiting
experts. Depending on your passion, you can find a club for just about everything from bridge and euchre; to drama and books; to sewing and gardening.
There is a well-equipped art studio, woodworking shop, computer lab and a closed-circuit television station.
Just for the Fun of it
Social opportunities abound – both planned and spontaneous. Outings are easy with Clark providing transportation to popular destinations such as restaurants,
stores and sporting events as well as cultural activities including museums, concerts, and plays. Friends often meet in the Chatterbox café to enjoy complimentary
coffee, tea or lemonade.
Food, Glorious Food
Dining is a favorite activity at Clark. Visitors comment on the restaurant quality of the fare. Residents expect it. We have multiple selections for each meal,
but if one of these does not strike a culinary cord, we will prepare other items.
Soul Satisfaction
Affiliated with the United Methodist Church, Clark is a community of faith where persons of all beliefs are invited to attend weekly worship services in the chapel.
There is an active Christian music program with both a vocal choir and a hand bell choir. Our pastoral care staff visits residents as desired.
Extending a Helpful Hand
The joy of volunteering motivates many residents to volunteer within Clark as well as in the Grand Rapids community. Strong, genuine and lasting relationships are
forged when people live and work together in an environment of compassion.
