The Eight Dimensions of Life Enrichment at Clark

May 1, 2025

At Clark, life enrichment is guided by a whole-person philosophy, an approach that centers on what makes life meaningful: connection, purpose, and the freedom to stay curious.

Drawing from eight dimensions of wellness, Clark Life Enrichment ensures residents can engage in experiences that support not just their physical health, but their emotional and spiritual well-being, too. With input from residents, families, and team members, our calendar is shaped by real interests and lived experiences—not a pre-set list of activities.

Each day at Clark offers something to look forward to. Whether it’s learning something new, returning to a favorite hobby, or sharing a meal and conversation with friends, enrichment happens when residents are supported in ways that feel natural and personal.

A whole-person approach to care

Life at Clark reflects the diverse interests, histories, and needs of each resident. Our team collaborates with families and caregivers to understand what matters most. We build our enrichment program with input and feedback, so residents don’t just participate in random activities; they’re shaping the experience organically.

Each dimension of wellness is supported through daily and weekly opportunities for connection:

Physical wellness

Movement is essential for quality of life. From seated stretching and yoga to nature walks and group fitness, residents are supported in staying as active as they are able, in a way that’s enjoyable and safe.

Emotional wellness

We make space for music, memory, and calm reflection. Activities like reminiscence groups, mindfulness, and music therapy help support mood, reduce anxiety, and bring comfort in both good and challenging periods.

Spiritual connectedness

Interfaith services, devotional gatherings, and quiet reflection spaces allow residents to stay in touch with their faith or spiritual practices.

Environmental awareness

Gardens, patios, and walking trails offer ways to engage with the natural world. Nature-based programming, whether inside or outdoors, gives residents a chance to breathe deeply and reconnect.

Social wellness

From game nights to themed meals, social events bring residents together in familiar and joyful ways. Staff are trained to encourage gentle participation, especially for those who may feel more reserved.

Intellectual wellness

Learning doesn’t stop with age. We offer reading groups, trivia, discussion circles, and guest speakers all designed to stimulate curiosity and memory.

Creative wellness

Residents can express themselves through art, music, crafts, and performance. It doesn’t matter whether they have practised something all their life, or they wish to try something new. All residents need is a willingness to enjoy the process.

Purposeful living

Community engagement is a cornerstone of our values. Whether it’s volunteering, mentoring, or helping set the table, small responsibilities can bring a meaningful sense of purpose and self-worth.

Everyday life enrichment, supported by thoughtful care

No matter what level of care someone may need, life enrichment at Clark is built around a belief in the everyday beauty of engagement and connectedness. Our programs are thoughtfully shaped around who our residents are, what they’ve loved throughout life, and what still brings them joy.
