COVID-19 Update: March 26, 2020

UPDATE: March 26, 2020 – 4:00 p.m.

Keller Lake Future Residents:

Over the past two weeks, we have been carefully navigating the changing dynamics of COVID-19. We continue to implement changes, often daily, to ensure the ongoing safety of our residents and staff. Our Clark COVID-19 Task Force meets every day to review updated information and recommendations from various agencies including the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the State of Michigan, and Kent County Health Department. We use this information to guide our conversations and decisions.

As you know, Governor Whitmer issued a “Stay Home, Stay Safe” Executive Order (EO) effective March 24, 2020. In accordance with the order, we were required to cease construction on the Keller Lake apartments. We are exploring the opportunity to receive an exception to the Executive Order from the Governor’s Office through an “outdoor construction activities” waiver. Our contractor, Elzinga & Volker (EV), through the Associated Builders and Contractors Association, have submitted the request on behalf of several organizations and projects.

Given the relatively mild winter EV has been able to accomplish more than originally scheduled. When the crews left the site on Monday, we were 3.5 months into the 18 plus month project calendar and construction is approximately 20% complete.

As this crisis plays out from not only a health standpoint but economic as well, I want to assure you the Keller Lake expansion project is 100% funded with money in the bank. In addition, we have several million in reserves.  EV and our trade partners are aware of our financial position and are anxious to get back to work!

We will keep you apprised of the response to our waiver request and any other pertinent developments that might arise. In the meantime, please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have questions or need additional information.
