It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Residents and staff have been busy decorating beautifully adorned trees, inside and out! We even have a special area in the Chatterbox Café to have a Christmas photo taken!

Our holiday traditions look different this year, but they will still be extra-special! Here’s a list of wonderful ways residents can celebrate Christmas!

Chicago Classic Brass: Saturday,

December 12 at 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM

For many years, the Chicago Classic Brass has performed a holiday concert in our Chapel. This year they will join us virtually performing holiday classics from Handel, Bach, Brahms and more. Tune in to enjoy this wonderful concert.

Elf on the Shelf on Perl Street

December 14 – December 31 (Independent Living Residents)

Elf on the Shelf isn’t just for kids! There’s an Elf scurrying along Perl street until December 31st! Hint: He’s tricky this year! The Elf is made from paper so he can hide in corners and under items. Pick up an answer sheet from reception to partake in the search. Once completed, turn your sheet into Lauren Misek, Volunteer Services to be entered into a Holiday raffle!

Holiday Spirit Week - December 14 – 18

Merry Monday! Dress Your Holiday Best! Winter Wonderland! Festive Thursday! Holiday Sweater Day! Five days of fun themes to dress up the holidays.

December Birthday Celebration

Join us as we celebrate December Birthdays and Anniversaries! Tune into a live sing-along hosted by Brandon Beck, featuring music by Jane Warners and Chris Simons. If you have a Birthday or Anniversary this month, be sure to answer your door as we will be delivering

Twinklin’ Lights Holiday Tour

Are you craving a traditional drive around the neighborhood, admiring holiday lights? Watch this festive presentation dressed in your favorite holiday attire as we celebrate the holiday season together, from the comfort of your own home. Learn about the history of holiday lights, and other local traditions. You will experience downtown Grand Rapids bejeweled and illuminated with twinkling light displays.

Caroline Cook will narrate the tour as you visually pass by uniquely special places, some of which will evoke nostalgic and warm feelings from holidays past. You may also access this program directly from your computer, laptop, or tablet by using Zoom meeting ID 965 384 0581 and the passcode clark.

Mrs. Clause is Visiting Skilled Nursing! – Thursday, December 17

A generous donor has donated gifts to our skilled nursing residents. Mrs. Clause is
stopping by to personally deliver the gifts. Residents will also have fun decorating
Christmas cookies next week!

Carolers from St. Stephens

Friday, December 18 at 10:00 AM

Students from St. Stephens will shower the Franklin & Sherman Court Town Homes with Christmas Carols beginning at 10 AM. Come to your door, enjoy the music, and wave to the children!

Cocoa & Christmas Tree Tour

Saturday, December 18 from 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM

Loved ones are invited to drive through our Towne Home areas to see the beautiful
wooden Christmas trees decorated by residents. To top off your tour, drive to the circle drive at the big building entrance to pick up hot chocolate and cookie decorating kits!

Grand Rapids Symphony Concert LIVE – Marcelo Plays & Conducts

Stop by the 1st Floor Library to pick up an Activity Packet full of fun Holiday themed word searches, puzzles, and more! This packet will also be emailed out to residents.

Schubert Male Chorus Concert “Christmas Close to Home”

COVID-19 Vaccine

We are working behind the scenes to ensure we have procedures in place for
administration of the COVID-19 vaccine. We partnered with Walgreens and are waiting for more details from the FDA and other agencies to ensure we are following all protocols as they are released. We will continue to provide updates over the next several weeks.

Great News, the Salon is Reopening for Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing!

We are pleased to announce salon services for residents on 3rd and 4th floor Assisted
Living and 3rd floor Skilled Nursing are set to resume the week of December 14. The
stylists are reaching out to their existing clients to schedule appointments. Members of the Life Enrichment Team will also assist with scheduling appointments. If you have questions, please contact:

New Window Visit Location

Bundle up in your winter warmies and stop by for a window visit with your loved one. We have a new location in front of the big building with a tent to keep the elements away. You’ll have a perfect view of your loved and will be close enough for them to hear you sing  Christmas carols. You can schedule a visit with the Life Enrichment team.

Bunnies Abound!

A generous donation from the Lavender Life Company brightened the day of our residents! Plush bunnies stuffed with lavender were delivered to every home and apartment. What a wonderful gift from Lavender Life Company!

We Had a Visit from Horses, not Reindeer!

Equine therapy at Clark Retirement The fabulous staff from Grand Rapids based, Equine Assisted  Development, brought their beautiful horses for a visit. Residents  from all areas were able to spend time with George and Noel on a
sunny afternoon!
