Clark at Franklin Update

Thank you for your support and patience over the past 72 hours; we want to assure you our team is working diligently to keep the residents and staff of Clark at Franklin safe. We’ve had many conversations with loved ones and thought it would be helpful to share answers to your common questions.

How do you determine who should be COVID-19 tested and how many residents and employees will be tested?

  • We follow guidelines from the CDC and the Kent County Health Department along with guidance from our Medical Director, Dr. Jim Passinault and Windsor/Oxford Manor physician, Dr. Elizabeth Neubig to determine the scope of testing.
  • We worked directly with the COVID-19 positive resident to help them recall everyone with whom they had close contact while they may have been infectious.
  • We identified 13 people who required testing.

What are the results of the tests?

  • Testing is being done by the Kent County Health Department; they have a backlog of tests which means we may not have results for 3-5 days. To date, there are zero (0) additional positive results, and three (3) negative results.

What are you doing to mitigate the spread of the virus?

  • We designate staff to care for COVID-19 positive residents only.
  • Staff wear personal protective equipment including masks, protective eye wear, gloves, shoe coverings and gowns (when indicated). We have an adequate supply of personal protective equipment (PPE) in stock and continue to procure additional supplies.
  • Monday through Friday, we monitor for symptoms and check vital signs of residents in Manor Independent Living, Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing.
  • Daily screening procedures are in place for all employees and limited essential visitors. This includes employees, such as home care aides, who may be coming from outside agencies.

Windsor and Oxford Manor Update

Thank you for your support and patience over the past several days; we want to assure you our team is working diligently to keep residents and staff at Windsor and Oxford Manors safe. We have had many conversations with loved ones and thought it would be helpful to share answers to your common questions.

How do you determine who should be COVID-19 tested and how many residents and employees were tested?
We follow guidelines from the CDC and the Kent County Health Department along with guidance from our Medical Director, Dr. Jim Passinault and Windsor/Oxford Manor physician, Dr. Elizabeth Neubig to determine the scope of testing.  Out of an abundance of caution, we used broad parameters to determine who should be tested. All residents in Windsor Manor and all Windsor and Oxford Manor employees were tested.  In total, 107 tests were administered.

What are the results of the tests?
Of the 35 residents tested, eight (8) tested positive. Four (4) employees tested positive; the employees work in Windsor Manor only and will not return to work until cleared to do so by their personal physician or Dr. Jim Passinault.

What are you doing to mitigate the spread of the virus?

  • On Monday, we engaged Corporate Clean Services to thoroughly disinfect all common areas in Windsor and Oxford Manors. They used the Clorox Total 360 disinfecting system. The one-step system kills coronavirus in less than two minutes.
  • Yesterday we began segregating COVID-19 positive residents from non-infected residents, the moves will be completed today. This is being done to minimize staff and resident interaction with COVID-19 positive residents. We worked closely with families to outline our process and gain their approval to relocate their loved one and are grateful for their support. In all, five (5) residents will be moved. Our staff is moving each residents’ personal belongings and furniture and arranging the new room just as their previous one.
  • COVID-19 positive residents are being cared for by designated staff only. Designated staff do not have contact with other Windsor or Oxford Manor residents.
  • Staff wear personal protective equipment including masks, protective eye wear, gloves, foot booties and gowns (where indicated). We have an adequate supply of personal protective equipment (PPE) in stock and continue to procure additional supplies.
  • Windsor Manor residents remain in quarantine; this will continue until deemed safe to end the quarantine
  • We monitor all residents for coronavirus symptoms and check vital signs three times daily
  • Daily screening procedures are in place for all employees and the limited essential visitors. This includes employees, such as home care aides, who may be coming from outside agencies.

What is being done to keep residents engaged?

  • We are working diligently to keep residents healthy and engaged. Our Life Enrichment team and frontline staff are meeting one-on-one with residents throughout the day. Our team is planning ahead to be prepared to resume outdoor walks and socially distanced activities when the quarantine is lifted. We are also looking forward to resuming window visits in the very near future. In the meantime, please continue scheduling video conference calls.
  • Atrio Home Care, one of community partners is working with us to coordinate physical and occupational therapy services. Our goal is to begin visits next week.
